Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds a time-based code (TOTP) from an authenticator app as a second step when you log in. It is strongly recommended — and required for new staff accounts before full access is unlocked.

1. Go to your profile and open the Two-factor authentication section.
2. Click Set up 2FA. A QR code and a base32 secret will appear.
3. Scan the QR code with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.), or enter the secret manually if your app does not support scanning.
4. Type the 6-digit code shown in your app into the Verification code field and click Enable 2FA.

To turn 2FA off later, open the same section and click Disable 2FA, then confirm with your account password or a current authenticator code.

Discord integration

Linking your Discord lets you sign in with one click and is required to submit staff applications. We only store your Discord user ID and username — we never read your messages, friends list, or anything beyond what you authorize through Discord's OAuth login.

Link your Discord

1. On your profile, open the Discord section.
2. Click Link Discord. You will be sent to Discord to authorize the connection.
3. Approve the request and you will be returned with Discord linked. You can now use "Sign in with Discord" on the staff login page.

Unlinking

To unlink, click Unlink in the Discord section. This is a sensitive action, so you must confirm with your ZanMC account password and a verification code sent to your Discord DMs. If our bot cannot reach you (for example, it is not in your server), the code is shown directly in your profile settings so you can still finish.

Linking your Minecraft account

Linking your in-game account connects your Minecraft username to your staff profile. This is required for new staff accounts and is used to verify your identity on the server.

1. On your profile, open the Minecraft Account section and click Generate Link Code.
2. A one-time code appears (it expires after 5 minutes). Join the server on Java or Bedrock and run:/link <your code>
3. This page automatically waits for the server to confirm. Once verified, your account is linked and the page refreshes.

To unlink, use the Unlink Minecraft Account button in the same section. You can generate a fresh code at any time if the first one expires.

Signing in & passwords

You can sign in with your ZanMC username and password, or with Discord if you have linked your account. From your profile you can also:

• Change your display name (how you appear to the team).
• Change your password — enter your current password, then choose a new one.
• Delete your account from the Danger zone (requires your password and a Discord verification code; the owner account cannot be deleted).

Forgotten your password? Ask another staff member with the staff:manage permission to reset it for you from the staff management page.
